Description
Chardonnay is undoubtedly the best known grape variety worldwide. It originated in Burgundy and is used in this region’s great wines, which adds to its international prominence. It is reputed for producing very elegant white wines. Its floral and fruit aromas are enhanced by being aged in wood.
Chardonnay is the second most cultivated grape variety in France and prospers especially well in Pays d’Oc. In this region, the hills are packed with favourable clayey limestone and stony soils, where Roche Mazet selects wines from the best plots to craft a unique blend. Part of this meticulous combination is aged in wood to add body to the fruit and enhance the rich aromatic palette of this grape variety.
When pairing food and wine, good balance and a good sense for what goes well together are essential.
Our two white wines are very different, but complementary: the Sauvignon is lively and fresh and the chardonnay round and well-balanced. Both stand out with unique taste profiles that express the characteristics of each grape variety. They can be paired with food in so many ways: you just have to choose !
While the Roche Mazet white wines still honour the more traditional pairings with shellfish, fish and poultry dishes, they also accompany more daring matches. From aperitif to dessert, Roche Mazet Sauvignon and chardonnay are an opportunity to try out all sorts of pairings, starting with our great food ideas
