The den wines are social wines to be enjoyed with friends and family. These wines are named for the den, the heart of all African wild dog communities. Flavour-packed, soft and juicy comfort wines for every day drinking.
This wine has a bright aroma and flavour. Soft, peach, lemon and guava with an underlying savoury minerality and a whisper of wood. The wine has a great texture and a layered finish with bright acidity keeping it fresh and vibrant.
The den Chenin Blanc is delicious on its own. The wine is beautifully balanced with concentrated flavour. It is a versatile partner at the table complementing classic dishes like coronation chicken, trout with almonds or even macaroni cheese. Great value for good everyday drinking with enough class for special dinners, high days and holidays.
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf to create wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa’s prime sites, including Paarl, Swartland and Stellenbosch – from low-yielding areas which are mostly unirrigated and farmed organically or with minimal organic outputs – and to support conservation of the endangered African wild dog. We all use the word unique a lot so in this instance we should say that Jeremy and Emma’s project is unique plus one, as they are doing something completely different. Taking inspiration from the African wild dog pack dynamics, Jeremy and Emma work with a community of talented individuals and ‘pack member’ vineyards to bring the best available grapes, technical and winemaking skills to Painted Wolf. Five percent of Painted Wolf profits from UK sales are donated to Tusk, a trust that not only funds projects to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but also helps to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities who live alongside wildlife. The Den Serie is a collection of modern, bright wines, including Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage Rose, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
