Description
Just like its counterpart in Italy (known there as Pinot Grigio), Pinot Gris from Argentina are refreshing, crisp white wines punctuated with notes of citrus, white flowers and herbs. The often highly-aromatic wine with vibrant acidity can also include flavors of peach, tropical fruit and pear.
While certainly not indigenous to South America, it was planted here due to its popularity with consumers in South America and its global appeal as an easy-drinking wine.
The grape excels in vineyards planted at higher altitudes where the climatic influences are cooler. Some of the best Pinot Gris in Argentina comes from the Uco Valley in the Mendoza region, situated along the foot of the Andes Mountains. Pinot Gris is also grown further north in San Juan and La Rioja.
